A favorite of DouxVin’s, Terra Valentine produces wines of extraordinary quality that over-deliver for the value. Angus and Margaret Wurtele founded Terra Valentine in 1996 when they purchased a newly producing vineyard on Spring Mountain and named it the Wurtele Vineyard. In 1999, they hired Sam Baxter and his father Phil, and began making wines at the historic Yverdon Winery on Spring Mountain. Sam and Angela Baxter purchased the company from the Wurteles and continue the legacy of Terra Valentine wines.

2014 Terra Valentine Cabernet Sauvignon Wurtele Vineyard
The Wurtele Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon has been sourced from the same part of the estate vineyard since 1996. At the top of the estate lies a north-facing slope with shallow rocky volcanic soils. The vines on this part of the vineyard produce intensely concentrated fruit with deep color and structure. This 100% cabernet sauvignon is aged in 50% new French oak and has the structure to age gracefully for up to 20 years. Nicely oaky, though the wood eases off, allowing the core flavors of dark berry, espresso, licorice, anise and boysenberry to shine. Maintains focus but gains depth and persistence. Best from 2020 through 2036.

2013 Terra Valentine Amore
Inspired by the love of Italian Super Tuscan Sangiovese blends, Terra Valentine created Amore. They source the Sangiovese from Piero Antinori's vineyard located at 1600 feet elevation in the Atlas Peak appellation of the eastern hills of the Napa Valley. The Sangiovese gets a 5-day cold soak prior to fermentation and is punched down daily in our automated punch-down tanks. The wine is aged in French Oak 300L puncheon, of which 25% are new. At the time of blending, small amounts of their estate Cabernets and Merlot fill out the palate and create a seamless blend that showcases the bright strawberry and blueberry fruit of the Sangiovese. A perennial DouxVin staple.
